CASCADE project kicks off in Portugal

The CASCADE had its official kick-off meeting in Aveiro, Portugal. Here the project consortium was hosted by partner 6 - the University of Aveiro. The meeting took place from Feb. 21-24 2012.

On the first day all partners introduced themselves and the study sites were higlighted. Also an overview was given about the work to be performed in the first 18 months. Later on, a number of scientific topis were addressed; remote sensing, drought and soil and theoretical backgrounds about catastrophic shifts. Models were shown and the WOCAT approach was discussed.

On Thursday a field trip to the local study site was organised. On friday the project planning, management and financial issues were discussed. The next plenary meeting will be held in Italy, in September 2012.
